What defines Tudor style?
In the past, Tudor homes were constructed using a timber frame. This comprised oak timber posts and beams which were filled with wattle and daub. Wattle and daub was a woven lattice of wooden strips called wattle that was ‘daubed’ with a combination of wet soil, clay, sand, animal dung and straw. This surface was then whitewashed to protect it against the elements. Unsurprisingly, this method of external cladding is no longer used, however, the look and feel of Tudor cladding are still desirable. Which is where we come in!
